Ryan Indexing is located in Portland, Oregon. I grew up in the Midwest, literally across the street from Lake Michigan. My lifelong interest in science and the environment was sparked as a child, when I learned that we should not eat too many fish from the Lake because of PCB contamination. I wanted to know why this had happened and what I could do about it.
I moved to the West Coast for college and earned a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography, followed by a Masters in Environmental Science and Management. I have worked for state government as a regulatory analyst, reviewed environmental impacts at a consulting firm, and performed water quality tests at a marine lab.
My science education and work experience trained me to write clear, concise text, which is also key to writing indexes that are the most helpful to readers. I enjoy the creative process of building an index and watching its structure form as I add key concepts and create cross references. Each project is a new challenge and I enjoy working with authors and editors to help them realize their project vision.
